2014 Minnesota Biennial
Minnesota Museum of American Art
A cornerstone of the Minnesota Museum of American Art’s history has been its commitment to local artists. To that end, in summer 2014, MMAA will revive its Minnesota Biennial series. The competition, which was opened up to all Minnesota artists, will offer the public a snapshot of, quite simply, the best art and craft being made throughout the state today, and to celebrate the many different and unique forms that artistic ingenuity takes in Minnesota.
MMAA reached out to regional arts councils and centers to help spread the word throughout their respective communities. With the help of these networks, the biennial will reflect the diversity of artistic practice in Minnesota, honoring artists young and old, emerging and established, urban and rural, and those who work in traditional and unconventional media including but not limited to: painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, clay, fabric, glass, wood, performance art, social practice, installation, video, and photography.
